Since 2006, Dr Clarke has led the team in the Department of Health in England that is responsible for professional regulation and standards in the health sector. His responsibilities include modernising the legislation that underpins the eight professional regulators, holding the Professional Standards Authority to account as a body that is arms length from Government, supporting regulatory bodies that are not performing to the level that the public and professionals have a right to expect and overseeing the Government policy on whistleblowing.
This is the story of my connecting trip to the school nurse service in Newham at East London NHS FT, accompanied by my guide dog, Eva.
